How to Download Filtered Gantt View and Task Insights from KTern’s Project Planner?


KTern's Project Planner offers a Gantt-style layout designed for efficient planning, tracking, and exporting filtered work items. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to access the planner and export tailored views for status updates and reviews.


  1. Login and Launch Project from Home Launchpad

    1. Log in to app.ktern.com.



    2. On the Home Launchpad, you'll find a list of projects you're a part of. Click the launch button next to the relevant project to open it.



  2. Navigate to the Project Planner

    1. Via Bookmarks (Recommended Path): 

      1. Inside the project, you'll land on the Bookmarks section.

      2. Click on the bookmark titled “Project Planner” to directly access the updated Gantt view.



      3. You can also bookmark specific work packages for easy access to the planner.

    2. Alternate Path via Timeline > Simulation: 

      1. In the navigation bar, select Timeline, then click on the Simulation tab. 



      2. Launch the desired work package and click “Preview the new planner” to access the Gantt view.



  3. Apply Filters for Specific Data

    1. Use the slicer icon at the top right to filter tasks by:

      1. Phase, Owner, Workstream, Critical/Overdue status, Roles, Tags, and other attributes. 



    2. For a more focused view, use the funnel icon for advanced filtering and exporting relevant project insights.



    3. Before downloading, ensure the Gantt view fits the screen by adjusting the zoom level (use the zoom in or zoom out icons).



    4. If there’s too much data, you can zoom by month or quarter for better visibility.

  4. Download Filtered Gantt View

    1. Click the Download icon on the top-right corner to open the export panel.



    2. Set Schedule Range:

      1. Choose the start and end dates (this is optional).



    3. Enable Date Filter:

      1. Activate “Filter tasks within this schedule range” to apply date filtering.



    4. Select Columns:

      1. Choose up to six fields (e.g., Task Title, Status, Planned Start, Actual End). Select any six from the drop-down list.



    5. Choose File Format:

      1. Select PDF for sharing or PNG for presentations.



    6. Download and Use

      1. Click the Download button. Your file will be automatically generated, with the project title as the filename.



      2. If you wish to interrupt the download process at any point, click on the cancel button in the export panel.

      3. In the downloaded file, you'll see both the Grid view table and the Gantt view.

  5. Usage:

    1. The exported file can be used for:
      1. Leadership reviews
      2. Audits
      3. Daily stand-ups
      4. Showcasing critical path and progress in a concise layout.
