What is the Role of a Notifier in the KTern Planner Approval Workflow?

Notes
In the Approval Workflow, not every stakeholder approves requests. Some group owners are assigned as Notifiers — they are kept informed but are not required to act.

What is a Notifier?

A Notifier is a User Group owner who receives workflow notifications for awareness purposes when a task related to their group is impacted by a cascading change, but where a different group owner is the primary decision-maker.

How the System Assigns Notifiers

The system uses an intelligent algorithm to determine approvers vs. notifiers based on task ownership hierarchy:

If all affected unauthorized tasks share a common group owner → that owner is the sole Approver; all other related group owners become Notifiers

If no common owner exists across affected tasks → all unique group owners become Approvers (no notifiers in this case)

How to View Workflows as a Notifier

Navigate — Planner → Planner Options → Workflow → Received Tab

Filter — Select "Involved as notifier" from the dropdown

Review — View all workflows where you have been assigned as a notifier

Why Notifiers Matter

Plan team schedule adjustments based on upcoming approved changes

Anticipate dependencies that may shift your team's tasks

Stay aligned with cross-team project governance decisions

Understand context of changes without being a decision bottleneck
