How to Enable and Use the Single-User Lock Feature to Prevent Concurrent Access

Pre-requisites:
  1. You have been invited to participate in the project.
  2. You have accepted the user acceptance invite.
  3. You have "SUPER" access.
  4. You are authorized for the respective phase and work package.
In a scenario where many users have SUPER access to update the project plan, all of them want to update the data simultaneously. However, this leads to concurrency issues that prevent the project plan from being saved. To avoid this problem, the Single-User Lock feature is enabled in the New Planner of KTern.AI

Let's look into the below steps:
  1. Read only mode (Default mode): Navigate directly to the respective project plan in the New Planner.
  2. Updating the Project Plan:

    1. Click on the edit icon to initiate the access to update the project plan

    2. This action will immediately switch the planner to "Edit Mode."

  3. Requesting Access:
    1. If another user is currently working on the project plan, click the edit icon, and a pop-up will appear (as shown in the image below).

    2. You will automatically be added to the queue upon initiating edit access.
    3. Check your position in the queue by selecting the "Is Editing" dropdown

  4. Saving the Project Plan:
    1. Once you’ve made your updates, click the save button.
    2. You are allowed to save multiple updates while maintaining "Edit Mode" access.

  5. Providing Access to the Next Person in the Queue
    1. When you’re done, please close your browser.
    2. This will allow the next person in line to see your changes right away and start working on the new simulation.
