How does KTern deals with the impact of SAP code on custom objects?

Introduction

Using the custom code impact analysis feature of KTern in SAP S/4HANA assessment, you can assess and analyze the syntactical change impact of all the custom Z tables, Z programs, and Z objects.
It is a pre-requisite to check the impact on the standard SAP code and the custom code before moving to S/4HANA. KTern also provides a summary of the Enhancements and Modifications that are going to be impacted during the transition from ECC to S/4HANA.
KTern provides a detailed and comprehensive analysis of each impacted custom program and custom object.

Custom Object Impact Analysis

KTern automates the process of SAP custom code impact analysis. After connecting an ECC system, KTern runs the custom code impact analytics check and analyzes the custom programs and objects present in a system.
1. Navigation
Navigate to KTern's Digital Maps and Select "Custom Object Assessment".


2. Custom Object Impact Analysis

The key activities that can be performed using KTern with respect to the custom code are:

  1. Identification of affected custom objects
  2. Scope definition of custom code migration
  3. Define which custom code needs to be taken to S/4HANA
  4. Define usage frequency
  5. Custom code analysis parameters
  6. Syntactically incompatible change of existing functionality
  7. Functionality not available but functional equivalent available
  8. Functionality not available
  9. Change of existing functionality with a performance impact
2.1 Custom Impacted Object & Impacted Cases
The platform provides a KPI pie chart based on the levels of Impacted custom objects and the impacted cases.



KTern also provides a Graphical representation of the LoBs and the impact objects as shown below :


2.2 Impact and Optimizing Mining
The platform provides the details of each and every custom objects whether it is based on the impact analysis or optimizing analysis.

The Mining is done based on the level of impact and then further digs deep into the custom objects/cases.

2.3 No. of High Impact & Optimized Cases
An overview graphical representation of the High impact case as well as High optimized cases is provided to the user by KTern.


2.4 Insights
Select the "rocket" action button to access deep insights by KTern on Impact analysis.


2.4.1 The Platform provides numbers on :
      a) Total Impacted Objects
      b) Total Impacted Cases
      c) Top Imported Packages



The Imported Cases can be further divided on the basis of the level of Impact :


      d) KTern also provides the complete list of all the custom objects and cases impacted.

Each item on the list is mapped to the respective stakeholder.

2.5 Stakeholders
The platform provides a graph of top 10 stakeholders based on the number of impacted cases.

KTern also shows the list of Top SAP reference notes
The Users can upload custom objects by exporting from SCMON.
